Position Description

Altavian Inc. is hiring a Machinist interested in working on crafting unmanned aircraft and systems. Altavian is expanding its industry-leading expertise in Unmanned Aircraft Systems by producing aircraft in-house. In this position, the Machinist will:

  • Fulfill production and project requirements in a machining environment

  • Maintain safe and efficient practices throughout machining and lay up processes

Ideally, we are seeking a full-time Machinist to start work immediately. For part-time applicants, candidates must be able to commit to a minimum of 20 hours a week.


  • US Citizen (Export Control/ ITAR/ EAR)

  • Ability to be approved for security clearance

  • Minimum 1-year experience

  • Experience operating mill, lathes, grinders, cut tools

  • Calculate dimensions or tolerance using micrometers and Vernier calipers

  • Experience working with aluminum, steels and plastics

  • Able to study and absorb information presented on blueprints, drawings or assembly files

  • Able to monitor and optimization individual part run time

  • Able to align and maintain cutting tools and equipment

  • Able to take a design on paper and through production and maintain the project requirements


  • Experience working with super alloys

  • Experience operating CNC machines

  • Experience operating HAAS CNC machines

  • Experience with CAM software and 3D modeling software

  • Able to design fixture and tooling needed for custom machining projects

  • Able to maintain and repair machine shop equipment
