Mechanical Engineer


Altavian Inc. is hiring a Mechanical Engineer interested in the design, testing, and fabrication of all aspects of small unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS). Altavian is expanding its industry-leading expertise in Unmanned Systems by producing aircraft and associated software in-house.


  • Assess project requirements and conceptualize potential solutions through modeling software.

  • Design, prototype and integrate sUAS components to develop industry leading unmanned air vehicle technology.

  • Collaborate with other mechanical, electrical, software engineers to evaluate and test design solutions.


  • Ability to be approved for security clearance

  • US Citizen (Export Control/ITAR/EAR)

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering

  • 3+ years of experience

  • Must possess sound principles of mechanical design within a constrained design space

  • Knowledge of composite fabrication

  • Must be able to fabricate the parts you design, or know how to outsource the fabrication

  • Solidworks, Word, Excel

  • Experience and skills in technical documentation


  • Experience in Autonomous Systems, Robotics, etc.

  • Interests in autonomous systems, robotics, avionics, and aviation

  • Experience in autonomous systems, robotics, avionics, and aviation

  • Previous experience in a machine shop, or knowledge of mill/lathe/CNC usage
